Design PHILOSOPHY
The journey of fashion is one of exploration and experimentation. Corr Blimey “absolute madness” has had a journey through all aspects of fashion from the humble t-shirt to the most glorious couture. There are no rules that cannot be broken. It all comes down to the individual in everybody that wants to come out even when wearing something as simple as jeans and a t-shirt. Stemming from the corporate over loaded roots of Canberra Corr Blimey see a niche that is craving attention from those who strive to break molds and inject personality back into fashion.
Fashion is not about owning the latest from this season or catering for the masses. Fashion is about the individual who wants to buy a timeless garment that can be worn in a multitude of ways without fear of it going out of style. Individuals want clothes that they won’t see everyone else wearing. The uniqueness of a garment that can be pulled out year after year and still looks great adds its value.
Fabric plays a major role in this. Corr Blimey feel the environment should play a role in designing clothing. Certain fabrics are extremely bad for the environment to produce and cause detriment to the countries where they are still in production. Depleting resources and recycling fabrics is very important, as waste is a major problem for Australia’s population. Recycling dated leather clothing into something new and bold provides history to garments and a sense of pleasure in knowing that garment has had a life before.
Corr blimey believe that clothes should have a life and history of their own and that this history should be reflected in the design. Social issues are important to Corr Blimey and this is why they strive to obtain all of their fabrics from within Australia and to produce garments either by hand in the Corr Blimey studio of within Australian production houses. Corr Blimey believe in ethical treatment of workers within the Textile Industry and therefore only work with companies that adhere to responsible working conditions for its employees.
